I am very fortunate to be able to drive to a beautiful beach to paint. When painting there I wonder if I can only do justice to such a beautiful place. I am entranced by the color and the sparkle in the water and the palms growing out of the cliffs. What ever worship can there be than natures own color harmony.
I went to go down to Laguna to paint and enjoy the fresh air and sunshine. Curious onlookers there ask " How much does something like this go for?" I am a little reluctant to quote a price the on the spot so I refer them to my website to check the prices of the other works. What do you think?
This is the second painting of the day. By this time the light had changed, but I was dazzled by the view of the light dancing on the crystal blue water.
I was inspired the "Daily Painters" Website. It is quite a commitment to paint a painting a day . Here is my painting of my closest beach. (Seal Beach, California) November 17,2008. We are recovering from fires . In this painting there is still a lot of smoke in the air that creates an interesting "fire glow."
Artists have to constantly practice to keep up and perfect their skills. I belong to a portrait painting group that meets on Saturday mornings. We have different models each week. Here I am doing a painting of Lori. (who also is the person who took this photo)

In the the midst of all the bad news about financial melt downs and a bad economy I continue to paint.
Even in bad times artists have to create. As banks fail and the stock market plummets, art is a tangible item that
will continue to bring one satisfaction and joy. Some of the best art came out of the 1930s during the depression. If it wasn't for a small group of artists in Laguna Beach there probably would not be the famous Laguna Art Festival that we have now.
So in the midst of all the bad news I found a beautiful scene to paint at the Bolsa Chica Wetlands
