Gobind Kaur Boyes - Fine Art
Seascapes and Beach Life |
|
Gobind started painting when she received her first box of watercolors at the age of eight. She graduated from Calif State Long Beach with a BA in Art in 1978.
After working as a graphic artist in the 80's, and raising two Children while painting furniture and photo mats in the 90's she has returned to painting paintings again.
In 2004 she decided to begin Seascape painting and later started painting the sea in plein air. Her 2004 series of northern California beaches was painted due to Gobind’s love of the ocean and the lack of natural beaches with no houses, pollution or trash.
Currently she can be seen painting local beaches and continues to look for natural beaches as an effort to preserve the memory of a place before it is developed.
Gobind is influenced by nineteenth century art and the study of Impressionism. She uses a play on color using the colors seen in natural settings. She calls her art Neo- Impressionism which she feels is between impressionism and realistic and is painted by a 21st century artist.
Gobind's Vision :
"When painting, I become totally absorbed in the beautiful scene before me,
and am in awe of the creation.
As an artist I have a gift to share as I grow and experiment with my painting.
It is my goal that the beautiful scene that I admire will also inspire another to find that connection to the creation."
